9 to 12% Super

Construction and building industry workers have a proud history of fighting for workers’ rights.
In the 1980’s, building and construction workers were leaders in
the charge for super which saw the creation of Cbus in 1984. In the 1990’s, growing pressure led to the Government introduction of Superannuation Guarantee. This gave many Australian workers access to super for the first time, starting at 3% in 1992 it grew to its current level of 9% by 2002. It was always intended to increase again but a decade later, nothing has changed....Why we need more super
9% super is not enough to provide a comfortable standard of living in retirement. There is a real risk that many of us will outlive our super savings. Even if you’re already getting more than 9% super, think of your mates, your kids and your family. This increase will mean working Australians can get a better quality of life in their retirement.

I support the Government's proposal to increase the compulsory superannuation rate (Superannuation Guarantee) from 9 to 12%. When the issue of increasing the SG rate comes before the Parliament I want you to vote YES. I want a secure retirement and your vote is important to achieve that. |
