The Mitchell Centre (Darwin)

The Mitchell Centre, Darwin’s newest landmark building, forms part of Cbus Property’s investment portfolio. With retail, dining and entertainment, commercial office space, multi-storey car parking and a stand alone, state of the art, police station the complex is a true mixed use site that has filled a need for new commercial and retail space in the city centre.

The site was formerly home to a heritage listed church. A lease for 76 years was negotiated with the owners of the site, and the existing building was relocated to the Botanical Gardens where it was renovated and is now a public attraction. Given the diverse areas housed within the Mitchell Centre, complex needs arose throughout the development process.
Through precise planning and consultation, Cbus Property and partners Randazzo Investments, were able to meet the various requirements for each area and anchor tenants.
Construction commenced in late 2001, and building was completed in late 2003. The Mitchell Centre was officially opened in April 2004.

Old Woolstore Hotel, Hobart

The Old Woolstore is a 242 room Hotel located at Constitution Dock in Hobart.  Situated near a host of cafes, restaurants, shops and the CBD, it is perfectly located to accommodate corporate guests, tourists, conferences and events.  The property offers gymnasium, meeting rooms, theatre, restaurant, bar and car parking.
Cbus became a joint venture partner in July 2000 with Orpin Pty Ltd and extended the Hotel from 118 rooms to 242 rooms.  Construction was completed in September 2001 and since that time the property has gone from strength to strength as it gains a solid reputation in the Hobart market.
Cbus Property sold this investment to the Joint Venture Partner in late 2006.

Tamworth Quest Apartments

Cbus entered into a joint venture with Quest Serviced Apartment Group to develop a 41 serviced apartment complex at Tamworth in regional NSW.

It has now been sold.

Barossa Valley

Cbus acquired 20 strata titled apartments 'off the plan' at the Barossa Valley Resort in February 1998.  Upon completion of construction in September 1999, Cbus settled with the developer and along with 120 other owners entered into a pooling lease agreement with Novotel.

Elder House, Adelaide

Cbus acquired the Elders House property from the Elders Super Fund in December 1999.  The property, which is located in the Adelaide CBD, was purchased with detailed plan permits to refurbish the property into 6 levels of premium office accommodation which was 100% leased to Futuris Ltd.

The property was completed in July 2001 and Futuris took occupation of the building at this time.  In July 2002 the property was sold to Challenger International.

Embassy Apartments, Adelaide

The Embassy development is an 18 storey residential tower located in the Adelaide CBD comprising 220 apartments, restaurant, lobby area and 4 levels of basement car park. Cbus provided all of the funds for the development of the project and received an interest rate of return plus a profit share.

The project was completed in March 2002.

HEZ, Newcastle (NSW)

Cbus agreed to provide a $10m mezzanine facility to the HEZ (Hunter Economic Zone) Trust to enable the construction of the initial infrastructure works for a 440 hectare Industrial Park.   The site is located 30 kms west of Newcastle and is easily accessible by road, rail or sea. The land has been specifically ear-marked to cater for large industrial uses and to meet the lack of supply which these type of users are facing in Sydney.

Hardie Holdings developed and managed the project and undertook the subdivision in stages.   As infrastructure was completed land was subdivided and sold in lots no smaller than 5 hectares.  It is anticipated that these sales will be to investors who will develop industrial properties for specific end user clients  (Cbus status : Sold). Information about the facility can be obtained at www.hez.com.au
