FAQs

What is the Cbus Clearing House?

An online tool to allow you to pay into multiple super funds using the one system. Cbus will then distribute any payments to funds outside of Cbus on your behalf.

This is useful where some of your employees have made a choice that their super be paid into a different fund to your default option.

E.g. Cbus is the default fund for your company. There are:

  • 15 employees you are paying into Cbus
  • 5 employees in 5 other funds

Instead of you paying into Cbus plus 5 other super funds, the Cbus Clearing House would allow you to pay for all the other funds using one simple system. Cbus then distribute payments and instructions on the other funds for you.

How do I choose Cbus as my default super fund?

You can ensure Cbus is the default fund for your business, by either:

Confirming Cbus is the fund that super payments will be made to in an enterprise agreement.

OR

Selecting Cbus as your default fund on the standard Choice form given to employees. Click here to download a copy or contact our Service Centre 1300 361 784 for a copy to be sent to you.

How do I start using the Cbus Clearing House?

Register your interest so you can be at the top of the queue to use this service, complete your details on the form above. You will then be contacted when the service becomes available in late April 2012.

Who do I contact for further information?

If you have further questions please contact your Employer Coordinator in your state. You can find this information on www.cbussuper.com.au or by phoning our Service Centre on 1300 361 784.

What is a default super fund?

This is the super fund that you choose for your employees. If your employees have a choice of super fund and they don’t nominate a fund, the employer can select where their super is paid. This is called the default fund.

Alternatively, your employees may be covered by an enterprise agreement. The agreement could define which fund super fund the employees must use.

Why would I use a Clearing House instead of other payment types?

A clearing house saves time and money by enabling employer to pay multiple funds in just one payment. This enables you to spend more time on the business and less time doing administration. And with the better data quality it provides, you have the confidence of knowing that your payments will get to your employees’ accounts sooner..

Does the Cbus Clearing House cost me anything?

No, it’s a free service for eligible employers.
