Privacy Policy

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Cbus is strongly committed to protecting your privacy. We want to provide a safe and secure web environment for both adults and children. We will only use any personal information that you supply for the purpose for which you provided it. We will not use it for any other purpose without your consent.

Because there are risks associated with using the internet as a transmission medium, when we use electronic forms to collect information we will also provide you with other options for providing the information - for example, a paper form and mailing address and a telephone contact.

Why We Collect Information

Cbus only collects information that is necessary to establish and administer a membership account and member services for you. The personal information that Cbus collects from you via the website includes your contact details, employer details and tax file numbers.

Cbus outsources the administration of its member and employer records to an external superannuation administration company and contracts with life insurers and other service providers to provide services to you. They, and the Fund's sponsoring employer and member organisations are authorised to only use your personal information under the strictest confidence.

Your personal information will not be used or disclosed for any other purpose without your consent, except where required by law. Eg reporting to the Australian Taxation Office.

Types of Information Collected

The Cbus site collects two types of information. The first type is anonymous information. The web server, managed by a company called Davnet, makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes: the user's server address; the user's top level domain name (eg. com, .gov, .au, .uk etc.); the date and time of the visit to the site; the pages accessed and documents downloaded; the previous site visited; and the type of browser used. No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except when a law enforcement agency wants to inspect the internet service provider's logs.

The second type of information that the Cbus site collects is personal information. Personal information is requested in order to provide enhanced services that are not available to anonymous users. Personal information requested in this site includes:

  • Email address - we will only record your e-mail address if you send us a message or voluntarily subscribe to an email newsletter. If subscribing to an email newsletter you may 'unsubscribe' at any time from the newsletter mailing list. Email addresses will not be added to any other mailing lists. We will not disclose your e-mail address without your consent unless required to by law.

  • Your name, address, phone numbers and membership number - we only receive these details via the website if you ask a question, request stationery, change your address details or ask to join Cbus through the forms provided on the site for this purpose. These details help us to begin to process your request.

The Use of Cookies

A 'cookie' is a piece of data stored on a computer tied to information about the user. Cookies are not used on the Cbus site.

Our Commitment to Data Security

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that all information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete, up-to-date and stored in a secure environment accessed only by authorised persons.

Transmissions sent to or from Cbus are routinely monitored for quality control and systems administration. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us or receive from our web site. These activities are conducted at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security.

Accessing and Correcting Personal Information

Cbus members may ask to see the information held about their membership and to have it corrected if necessary by contacting the Cbus Service Centre.
