Frequently asked questions

When did EISS Super merge with Cbus Super?

EISS Super and Cbus Super merged on 12 May 2023. As a result, EISS Super members transferred to Cbus Super and all EISS Super products closed.

Why did EISS Super merge with Cbus Super?

EISS Super chose to merge with Cbus Super to become part of a larger, growing fund that shared their commitment to great service and improved retirement outcomes for members.

Increased scale and future growth will benefit members by providing access to more investment opportunities, a greater ability to manage fees effectively, and access to products and services, including products for those approaching or currently in retirement.

Where can I access the significant event notice (SEN)?

SENs were sent to EISS Super members in late March and early April. A copy of the SEN for EISS Super members is available on our member merger hub.

I previously used the EISS Super Employer Portal to make contributions. Can I still access the portal?

There is no change to the Employer Portal (SuperChoice) itself. It now has Cbus Super branding, but there’s no change to the functions and you can continue to make contributions in the same way.

You can still:

  • Log in to the Employer Portal using your existing details.
  • Access your current employees' super records.
  • Make contributions for your employees in the normal way.
  • Onboard and make payments for new employees.

You can access the Employer Portal (SuperChoice) at cbussuper.com.au/employer-login.

We recommend reading the ‘Changes that now apply’ section above for details of what’s changed.

How do I make contributions now?

There are a couple of things that changed for all employers:

  1. USI number change – The EISS Super USI number has been replaced with the Cbus Super USI (CBU0100AU). Your contribution file must now include the new USI.
  2. New employer number – If you were new to Cbus Super (i.e. you hadn’t made contributions on behalf of a Cbus Super member before) you would’ve received a new employer number in your welcome letter.
  3. New member number – EISS Super members received a new member number when their accounts transferred to Cbus Super. You can keep making contributions using their old EISS Super member numbers, but if you have any questions, please call us on 1300 361 784 (8am to 8pm AEST, Monday to Friday).

If you’re making contributions for employees in the Retirement Scheme or Defined Benefit Scheme, please use the Cbus Defined Benefit USI (75 493 363 262 003).

What is a USI?

A USI is a Unique Superannuation Identifier (USI) number used in SuperStream to identify an APRA approved super fund and/or its superannuation product which an employee is contributing to.

Why has the EISS Super USI changed?

Now the merger is complete, all EISS Super members have been transferred to Cbus Super and all EISS Super products are closed. As a result, the EISS Super USI (EIS0001AU) is closed and you’ll need to use the Cbus Super USI (CBU0100AU) to make contributions.

If you’re making contributions for employees in the Retirement Scheme or Defined Benefit Scheme, please use the Cbus Defined Benefit USI (75 493 363 262 003).

What is the new USI number and do I need to change the USI in my records?

You’ll need to use Cbus Super’s new USI (CBU0100AU) in your records or contribution file. Otherwise, when you try and submit your contributions, you’ll return an error and won’t be able to process your contributions.

If you’re making contributions for employees in the Retirement Scheme or Defined Benefit Scheme, please use the Cbus Defined Benefit USI (75 493 363 262 003).

What happens if I make contributions using the old USI?

The EISS Super USI (EIS0001AU) is now closed. If you try and use it, you’ll return an error that tells you this USI doesn’t exist.

Why do I need a new employer number?

As part of the merger, EISS Super’s fund administration services transferred from Mercer to Link. This change meant that we needed to generate new employer numbers.

All new Cbus Super employers (i.e. employers that hadn’t made contributions on behalf of a Cbus Super member before) received a new employer number in their welcome letter.

What if I already have a Cbus Super account?

If you currently make contributions to Cbus Super, you can continue to use your Cbus employer number.

If you don’t know your Cbus employer number, call us on 1300 361 784 (8am to 8pm AEST, Monday to Friday) and we can assist.

Why do my employees need a new member number?

As part of the merger, EISS Super’s fund administration services transferred from Mercer to Link. As a result, EISS Super members who transferred to Cbus Super received a new member number.

Do I need an employee's new member number to make contributions?

No. SuperStream uses three points of identification to process superannuation contributions and the member number is not one of them. However, you can still make contributions using an EISS Super member number.

If you need assistance with Cbus Super member numbers, call us on 1300 361 784 (8am to 8pm AEST, Monday to Friday).

What if I need an employee’s member number, where can I get it?

If you need assistance with Cbus Super member numbers, you can call us on 1300 361 784 (8am to 8pm AEST, Monday to Friday).

Does the EISS Super Employer Portal look the same after the merger?

No. While the Employer Portal (SuperChoice) looks different with the Cbus Super branding, there’s no change to the functions.

Can I log into the EISS Super Employer Portal with my existing username and password?

Yes. You can still log in to the Employer Portal (SuperChoice) using your existing details, however it now has Cbus Super branding.

Can I still access my contribution history via the EISS Super Employer Portal?

For former EISS Super employers, you’ll continue to use the same Employer Portal. While it looks different with the Cbus Super branding, there’s no change to the functions and you’ll still be able to:

  • Log in to the Employer Portal using your existing details.
  • Access your current employees' super records.
  • Make contributions for your employees in the usual way.
  • Onboard and make payments for new employees.
