Joint media statement

Joint Media Statement issued by MUFG Retirement Solutions on behalf of Australian Administration Services Pty Ltd and United Super Pty Ltd as trustee for the Construction & Building Unions Superannuation Fund (Cbus).

Cbus and MUFG Retirement Solutions have settled a dispute to resolve past issues relating to unacceptable delays in the processing and payment of death benefit and insurance claims made by Cbus members and claimants, and have implemented measures to help prevent similar issues arising in the future.

Cbus and MUFG Retirement Solutions acknowledge the distress and uncertainty the delays have caused, particularly during such challenging times. MUFG Retirement Solutions sincerely apologises to Cbus and its members, their families and claimants. Cbus also wishes to reiterate its unreserved apology to its members and their families and claimants.

Cbus and MUFG Retirement Solutions are committed to working to enhance the experience for Cbus members, claimants, and beneficiaries. Over the past year, Cbus and MUFG Retirement Solutions have implemented reforms to streamline claims handling and payment services. As a result of these changes, we have improved processing and payment times, and we expect to do even better. We are also jointly taking steps to digitise more member services, as well as communications currently only supported by paper. Cbus and MUFG Retirement Solutions are confident that we will continue to improve on our commitment to deliver compassionate, timely and transparent services for Cbus members, claimants and beneficiaries.

Cbus Super is the leading Industry Super Fund representing those that help build, maintain and shape Australia. As of April 2022, Cbus merged with Media Super and offers Media Super products. In May 2023 Cbus Super successfully completed its merger with EISS Super, welcoming 17,000 new members and establishing itself as the leading fund for energy and electrical workers in Australia.
