Cbus is helping members collect unpaid super
At Cbus, members are always our first priority. We know that unpaid super is a problem which leaves many of our members with much less to live on in retirement.
Each year close to $6b of superannuation payments go unpaid in Australia. The building and construction industry has a high incidence of non-payment, more than 40% of apprentices, labourers and machinery operators have unpaid super.1

What is Cbus doing about your unpaid super?
During these uncertain times, we continue to help Cbus members collect the super contributions they have earned.
We have a range of services to help Cbus members recover unpaid super, and for those working in the building, construction and allied sector, this includes allowing Cbus members, who consent, to have the status of their super contributions checked by a union delegate or officials. This service was put in place by Cbus because for many of our members, this is the easiest way for them to be assured that they are receiving their super contributions. We provide a limited amount of personal member information to union delegates or officials to get their help in checking and recovering unpaid super. (See below for the type of information provided.)
From 1 July 2020 we are shifting to a new system in which members can opt out if they do not want to participate in this service and we will no longer be asking third parties to gain member consent.
What if you don't want your information used?
If you do not want Cbus to provide limited personal information to enable a union delegate or representative to check the status of your super contributions to assist in identifying and/or recovering unpaid super, then you can simply opt out of this service. Opting out has no impact on other services provided to you as a Cbus member.
