Cbus appoints new directors

Cbus is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Kara Keys and Mr Ray Sputore to the Board of Directors.

Board Chair Steve Bracks said the two directors bring a wealth of diverse experiences to the Board.

“Cbus is thrilled to welcome Ms Keys and Mr Sputore to the Board and looks forward to harnessing their diverse experience as we continue our focus on improving retirement outcomes for our members,” Mr Bracks said.

“Cbus has delivered yet another strong double digit return for our members of 10.95% for our Growth (Cbus MySuper) option for the last financial year* and we are looking to build on that success through a significant internalisation of investment management.

“It’s an exciting time and I am confident that our new directors will play their part in ensuring Cbus remains an innovative leader in the industry.

“Kara Keys is a highly respected leader, a tireless and passionate advocate for workers and strong replacement for Ged Kearney on the Board.

“Ray Sputore has a well earned reputation for leadership at the highest levels of the construction industry and is a strong voice for the business community both in Western Australia and nationally.”

Ms Keys said she was looking forward to contributing to Cbus’ leadership on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.

“Responsible investment is vital consideration in Cbus’ long-term investment strategy. Cbus is widely recognised as a leader in ESG both in Australia and overseas,” Ms Keys said.

“I’m excited to play my part in continuing this leadership.”

Mr Sputore said he was honoured to be contributing to an organisation with such a strong record of returns for members.

“For 34 years Cbus has delivered for our members because we put the interests of our members first and we haven’t been afraid to embrace innovation and change,” Mr Sputore said.

“The fund is certainly moving in an exciting direction and, importantly, doing it in a thoughtful and well managed way.

“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to give some of my focus to a Fund that has done so much for people in our sector.”
