Cbus recruiting for Investments leadership role

To continue to deliver outstanding returns to support our members’ retirement, Cbus has refined the structure of its investments team and is looking to recruit to the newly created leadership role of Chief Operating Officer – Investments.

Following the departure of Ms Trish Donohue after almost 18 years, Cbus undertook a restructure resulting in the investments back, middle office and support services all reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, Mr Kristian Fok. 

Mr Fok said that with significant growth over the last few years and the Fund expecting to grow to more than $60 billion in the next four to five years, it is an exciting time to come on board.

“We’re proud of our outstanding returns – 11.85% this past year – placing us in the top 25% of Australian superfunds over 1,3,5,7 and 10 years[1] and our focus is on driving continued strong performance,” Mr Fok said.

 “A significant focus of our new investment model is the internalisation of a number of direct investment strategies, so we’re looking to the future and having the right structure and the right team in place is critical to our success.

“It’s been a busy 18 months with our international shares and debt lending strategies now in place along with our expanded infrastructure team which is actively pursuing opportunities and we are in the process of developing new strategies for opportunistic growth and Australian equities.”

Mr Fok said that the new role of Chief Operating Officer – Investments is a senior strategic leadership role within Cbus’ dynamic and growing Investment team, that will have ownership and accountability for back and middle office and investment support teams including Operations, Analytics, Risk, Legal & Governance and Tax.

In encouraging people to apply, Mr Fok said the successful candidate will have extensive investment operations experience with a background in superannuation, funds management or broader financial services, and a commitment to our member first focus.

“We are looking for someone with exceptional leadership and relationship management skills with the capacity to provide high level strategic advice and support to the Investment leadership team, Group Executives, CEO, Investment Committee and Board,” Mr Fok said.
